Blog Feature: Icing Designs Mini Christmas Open House
I am swooning over these pics! Icing Designs did the garland, sweets labels and favor cards for my L'Amour est Doux dessert table. I know we haven't even had Thanksgiving yet, but Christmas is around the corner and you will definitely find some inspiration here. The ladies at Icing Designs do not disappoint.....they held a lovely Open House to feature their new line, Parisian Christmas.
I love that they love all things French. Being from Haiti, I speak French, my girls are in a French Immersion School, and Paris is one of my favorite cities. My dream vacation is spending a month in the South of France...in an old farmhouse, near the beach, where I can walk to the open market everyday...but alas, I digress!!
Anyway, her are some pics from the Open House, but head over to their site to see more!

Whoopie Pies!!!
picture courtesy of 100 Layer Cake |
Today's post is dedicated to whoopie pies! I love whoopie pies, despite the fact that I didn't discover them until my husband came along and introduced them me. I made these lovely little whoopie pies for my Thanksgiving dessert table last year and also made them as hostess gifts for the Holiday season. They were a hit!
So this year I'm including them again.....gingerbread whoopie pies with lemon creme filling and chocolate with vanilla creme will join my dessert table along with red velvet cake truffles, mini apple pie lollies, and of course, cupcakes! Oh no, hope my friend Kurt doesn't see this post, I just remembered I owe him a batch. Can you believe he has never had one!!!!!!!
I usually make mine from scratch and love this recipe I found in The Washington Post last year, but here is an easy recipe that includes a cake mix that I think taste pretty yummy!

Star Wars Party!
Katie of Green Apple Paperie did an amazing job with all the gift tags, banners, and the sweets tags! I told her my color combination, theme, and style and she whipped up something pretty cool! Of course, Sweeties by Kim, never disappoints with her custom designed chocolate dipped oreos. Those cupcake toppers came from the amazing Charynn over at TwoSugarBabies. There is some amazing talent on etsy.com!

Another blog feature!
It's been a crazy week. I had the Star Wars party (I'll have pics up soon or you can check out my Facebook page) and then a cupcake dessert table for a three day Holiday Boutique.
I was so nice to get an email from Sweet Petal Bakery saying my French-inspired dessert table was being
featured on their blog! SO giddy! Click on their site to see the blog post!!
They created the magnificent anemone that I placed on the cake!
They also made these cupcake toppers.....
They do awesome work!

Birdal Shower to Wedding
In September I helped my friend Sharyn plan her sister's Bridal shower. I so enjoyed working with Sharyn because her love for her sister, Tracy, came though in all the little details we worked on. Tracy got married on Halloween...I know....how cool!!! They'll never forget their anniversary! I'll bring you those pics in my next post.....now back to the shower.
Sharyn has an amazing collection of teapots and teacups which served as the inspiration for the shower. We added her sister's color palette which was pink, blue, and silver; and ran with a bridal shower tea. The food was a beautiful assortment of finger sandwiches, salads, crudites to nibble on. The dessert table included petite fours, cupcakes, french macaroons (my favorite) and dessert bars. Yum!
The shower was in Philly and I was not able to go but Sharyn did a great job setting everything up, along with some of Tracy's friends. She threw an awesome bridal shower! Let the pictures speak for themselves. You rock Sharyn!!!!
How could I not end with this stunning flower girls dress. Jordan is Sharyn's daughter and was the flower girl at the wedding. I heart this dress!! The picture does not do it justice. I can't wait for you to see her all dolled up on the wedding day!!

Birthday Cookies and Birthday Gratitude
Yesterday was my birthday! Yeah, me!!! As you can see, it's been awhile since I posted. Three children, one sick for the past week, then me sick; and still trying to work on my upcoming events, leaves little room for a blog post. But I persist.......I'm reminded of a saying that, ironically enough, I've seen several times in the past week....maybe the higher powers knew I needed to see it repeatedly. Don't quote me on the exact words but in essence it says "reach for the sky and if you fall you'll land among stars". So I keep reaching, because being among stars is not a bad place to be!
Speaking of stars, my neighbor came over with a little birthday present for me! Love presents! This was a winner all around in our house....I literally had to remind the girls that it was my birthday and my present :)!!
Ms. Lyda brought over the cutest cookies ever! They were cookies in the shape of a cupcake, a birthday cake, and some button cookies. Now I'll be honest with you, a lot of times these kind of cookies look good but don't often taste good! In fact, when we opened the button cookies, my 6 year old said "This smells like play-doh!". So of course, I had to smell and it did smell a little like play-doh. Hum....
But that didn't deter us from tasting and we did!!! Boy, were we in for a surprise....they were delicious! These were some tasty sugar and almond cookies. So good, we polished all of the button cookies! The happy birthday cookie was shared by us all and disappeared pretty quickly.
So check out this not so little company, Bundles of Cookies in Bethesda, MD that makes all kinds of cookies for all kinds of occasions! I'm definitely using them! Thanks, Lyda!
