Stella & Dot Trunk Show Powered On!

What a night!  We literally powered on despite the fact that my neighborhood lost power for over an hour!  The ladies were not going to let a little light ruin the party!!!  They were outside or by a window, checking out the jewelry and enjoying a glass of wine.  Just as I was getting nervous about having no air conditioning and the looming darkness, the lights came back on..... kicking the party into full swing!

I'm working on an ice cream sundae bar for tomorrow so I'll have a full post on the Trunk Show on Monday....but here are some pics to get you through the weekend!

I want to thank Julie, Stella & Dot Stylist, and her assistant Lilli for being so flexible and just rolling with it.  To my wonderful friends and neighbors, thank you, thank you, thank you!

A few of you have asked if you can still order some of their madly stylish jewelry, and the answer is yes.  Just click here and it will take our Trunk Show page on the Stella & Dot website and you can place or order.  You can also email me!

Have a great weekend!

I heart FLOWERS!

I love, love fresh flowers and would have them in my house, every day, every where!!!    Alas, that is not the case..... ..but love summer for the fact that I can always pick up a bunch at the farmers' market.  So you can imagine my excitement when I found this!    While perusing through The Cinderella Project , I came across their feature on Flowers Chic & Cheap.

Simplicity at its best!  You don't need to visit a florist to make a bouquet.  Visit your farmers' market or local grocery store and just grab whatever you have around your house....teapots, bowls, or a simple cup can serve as a container and add a little whimsical flair!

I love this arrangement out of these stacked paper cups, paying homage to a city dear to my heart and holding just two blooms of one my favorites....peonies!

For a more fancy occasion, this teapot delivers in style!  How fun would this be for a bridal shower?!!

I love this color combination....soft,  delicate and elegant.  Nothing fancy or over the top, but oh, so beautiful!

So go ahead and experiment....find inspiration in your garden, farmers' market, or grocery store.  Pick a flower that makes you happy and make your own arrangement!

Summer Soiree

Yesterday, I told you I was going to a Summer Soiree, hosted by New Community for Children.  It was a such a fun event, for such a worthy cause!  It was held at the UPS Townhouse in the Capitol Hill area of DC.  The townhouse was beautiful.  I met some wonderful people including Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton...she was so sweet!   Also did a little networking and had some great food.  I am pleased to say that several guests bid on our services!  I can't wait to hear how much we helped raised. I brought along some cookies  Girly Gatherings did for me with my logo on them.  They were a big hit!  Thanks, Ally

Here's a picture of me and Nadine Kearns, the Executive Director.  Thanks for inviting me, Nadine.

It was a lovely Summer Soiree!

Mad, Mad Monday!!!

It's been a busy few days with the grandparents in town and swim team activities.  But we are back and it's a Mad Monday at Madly Stylish Events.

This evening I am off to a Summer Soiree at New Community for Children.  New Community for Children (NCFC) provides children and youth in DC with learning experiences that build up their academic, social, and creative skills.  Their summer program (My Garden, My Community ) has been teaching 95 students about horticulture.  Not the boring textbook, read about it way.....no, these students have been busy planting, tending, harvesting, and cooking with produce grown from their on-site garden.  See for yourself what they are doing in their garden blog, Watch Our Garden Grow.

This Summer Soiree includes a silent auction to raise funds for academic enrichment programs for 300 kids. So when their executive director asked me to donate some of our services....how could I possibly say no?

On the  auction block  we've got a child's birthday party and a sweets table....now let's bring in some funds for such a worthy cause!!!!

I am also prepping for the Stella & Dot Trunk Show on Thursday.  Things are coming together....

      Love that pink zebra                     print!

Can't wait to see these draped with some jewels....

My six year old is playing assistant and told me I could use her diamond if I needed too.  Those who know her, know how much she loves, loves, loves her diamond......don't you wish you had a diamond like this?

And, finally I've got the Swim Team Banquet on Saturday..... more on that later!  I need to get back to work!

Happy Monday!

Hosting a Stella & Dot Trunk Show!

Madly Stylish Events is hosting a Stella & Dot Trunk Show Next Thursday!

Back in May, my friend Katie was wearing these fabulous earrings that I loved and she told me she got them from Stella & Dot.  Surprisingly, I was not familiar with them....strange because I  LOVE jewelry!!!!  Well, of course, I went straight to my computer and checked out their website.  Their whimsical, boutique-style jewelry is absolutely beautiful!  Not too mention I love the story behind the company...."a mom trying to help other mom's find a more balanced life".  So as it happens, Katie introduced me to her friend Julie, who is a Stella & Dot Stylist and here we are......Madly Stylish Events is hosting a Stella & Dot Trunk Show.  Jewelry, wine, sweets, and friends.....it's going to be a great evening.

Speaking of sweets....here's a sneak peek of one of the things you'll munch on.  Next week, I'll tell you more about where these lovely cookies came from!

As for the jewels, I'm currently coveting these lovely pieces:
And how could you not love these dainty charms...........

I recommend one of each, so you get this effect:

So if you are in the area and would like to attend, email me for the info.  If you're not, you can still go online , take a look and I'll pass your order on to Julie!

See you next Thursday!!

They're here!

My business cards are here!

My dear friend Mark stopped by last night to drop off the cards that he printed for me.  They look amazing!  If you live in the area and need printing services, contact him!  Thanks again, Mark!

As I discovered in this process, it truly takes a village.........to get business cards, create a blog, design a blog and finally, get it up and running.  So I want to take this opportunity and thank a few people who took part in that.  The first "shout out' goes to my super-talented and madly stylish "cousin" (we Haitians have lots of cousins!), Claude.  She created and designed my logo for me while swamped with work from her own craft.  She owns Petite-Fete in New York, which specializes in custom-made invitations.  Everything is made by hand and originally designed by her!  Absolutely divine!  Check out her site and see for yourself!  I'm always inspired!

The next "shout out" goes to my equally madly stylish friend, Isabelle.  Isabelle's design eye helped me with the blog layout.  She is a website design queen and you can find her at Manta Point.  It's worth a look just to understand why her site is called Manta Point. When I get ready to launch my website, I'll be calling her again.....and she thought she was done with me ;)!

Of course, I must thank the husband....who gave lots of constructive feedback. Let's just say he agreed to do his thing and I agreed to do my thing!

Thank you all!!

WELCOME!

Welcome to Madly Stylish Events!

This is where my love of parties, entertaining and planning come together.  After years of being the unofficial party planner for friends and family, I've decided to pursue my passion.  I have spent the last 15 years in higher education but was always involved in event planning somehow........whether it was board dinners, welcome week, convocations, scholar's social events, international trips or school galas....I was planning it!

So here I am today launching Madly Stylish Events!  I specialize in small events with lots of style, flair and a little whimsy.  I especially love at home celebrations but can plan for any venue.  I hope you'll stay and follow my journey.

I find inspiration for my work all around me......my husband, my girls, my home (Maryland), my place of birth (Haiti), where I grew up and went to college (NYC), the places I've travelled ( too many to name), and the friends I've made along the way!   There are also so many event and party planning blogs out there that inspire my work.  I'll introduce you as I go along!

To say I'm excited about this new journey is an understatement......I'm beyond giddy and a little nervous as well!  But here we go!

I've actually got a few events in the works......a Stella & Dot Trunk Show, my daughter's swim team banquet, and an anniversary party to be held in September.  I will bring you some sneak peeks to these events in the coming week!

Looking forward to designing you next madly stylish event!
